How do I get rid of the " read only" on a file I want to make chan

I have address labels in an excel file and am trying to make corrections. I get an error message, read only file. How do I do away with the "READ ONLY" and how did this come about. I also want to save it to a CD-RW disk. HELP Received on Sat Jul 01 2006 - 10:20:01 PDT
