How to convert new PowerPoint presentation from read-only file

I 've created a new presentation. When I try to save it to a jump drive I get a read only message. I've tried the file-properties-general-attributes route; the four boxes are gray and I can't click on one. The archives box is checked.

Thank you for helping. I'm a historian, not a computer geek!
