Powerpoint Screen Saver Mode

I have a project where I need to make a Powerpoint Slide show available to the public on a touch screen. When no one is using it, I want the screen to go into a Screen Saver and then Power Saver mode. The Powerpoint Slide Show seems to keep these modes from executing. Is there an attribute or setting in Powerpoint to allow the screen saver and Power saver option in Windows XP to function?
